Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched ‘Project Ganga’, an ambitious initiative aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity across the state and accelerating digital transformation in rural and urban areas alike.
Speaking at the launch event, the Chief Minister emphasized that broadband connectivity has become an essential requirement in today’s digital age. He noted that faster internet services would not only enhance communication and access to information but also accelerate economic development and improve the quality of life for citizens.
“Internet speed and connectivity are directly linked to the pace of development. The faster the internet, the faster the progress and transformation in people’s lives,” Adityanath said.
The project is being implemented through a partnership involving the Uttar Pradesh Transformation Commission and Hinduja Group, with the objective of bringing a digital revolution to the state. Under the initiative, high-speed broadband services will be extended to the Nyaya Panchayat level, with plans to further expand connectivity to Gram Panchayats and villages across Uttar Pradesh.
Officials associated with the project stated that interested participants will be able to apply through a dedicated online portal launched by the Chief Minister. The eligibility criteria for beneficiaries will be aligned with the state’s CM Youth Scheme, creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs to participate in the broadband expansion drive.
The initiative is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities. According to officials, entrepreneurs associated with the project could potentially earn a monthly income of up to ₹1 lakh, depending on the scale and success of their operations.
In a major push for women’s empowerment, the state government has directed that more than 50 percent of the beneficiaries under Project Ganga should be women. The move is aimed at increasing female participation in the digital economy and promoting inclusive growth.
Project Ganga is expected to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s digital infrastructure, improve internet accessibility in underserved regions, and support the government’s broader vision of building a digitally connected and economically empowered state.
