Assam: Reinforcing the state’s crackdown on narcotics, the Assam Police carried out a statewide drug disposal drive on Sunday, with district police in Bajali and Dhemaji destroying large quantities of seized contraband in the presence of their respective District Drug Disposal Committees.
According to an official post by Bajali Police on X, the district police destroyed a large quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) as part of the statewide initiative. The disposal was carried out in the presence of the District Drug Disposal Committee while strictly adhering to all prescribed legal procedures.
In Dhemaji, the district police, along with members of the District Drug Disposal Committee, conducted a similar exercise at the police reserve in Tulsibari. During the operation, officials destroyed 421.917 kilograms of ganja and 153.45 grams of heroin, following the due process laid down under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Dhemaji Police stated that the disposal drive was undertaken with the objective of contributing to the vision of a drug-free India, while ensuring that seized narcotics are disposed of in a transparent and legally compliant manner after the completion of all required formalities.
The coordinated operations in Bajali and Dhemaji formed part of Assam Police’s broader statewide campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse. The initiative reflects the force’s continued commitment to eliminating illegal narcotics and strengthening enforcement efforts across the state.
