Guwahati, September 11, 2026: Guwahati Police has issued a public advisory after taking note of a social media message urging people to assemble in large numbers at a location in the city, with the venue and timing reportedly to be announced later.
In a notice issued on September 11, the police said that no application or intimation seeking permission for such a gathering had been received by the Guwahati Police Commissionerate as of that time. The clarification comes amid circulation of the gathering-related message on social media.
Police stated that any public programme or gathering in Guwahati must comply with the applicable legal provisions and that the organisers must obtain the required permission or submit the necessary intimation to the competent authorities, as applicable.
The authorities also urged citizens to exercise caution and not act on unverified announcements concerning such programmes.
The advisory was issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Assam Police, and shared by Guwahati Police through its official social media account.
The police communication does not identify the organisers of the proposed gathering or specify a venue or time. Citizens have therefore been advised to rely on verified information from the authorities before participating in any such programme.
