Jorhat: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the second day of the state’s District Commissioners’ Conference was underway in Jorhat, with discussions expected to shape a new approach to district-led development.
The two-day conference, being held in Jorhat, brings together the state’s District Commissioners to deliberate on administrative priorities and development-related issues. The conference is scheduled for September 13 and 14, 2026, according to the Assam Personnel Department.
In a post on X, Chief Minister Sarma said the second day of deliberations would focus on firming up plans for a new pathway in Assam’s district-led development model. He also said further updates from the discussions would be shared.
The conference comes as the state government seeks to strengthen governance and development at the district level. Discussions at the meeting are focused on areas including public service delivery, implementation of government schemes, infrastructure, revenue administration, public grievances and law and order.
The meeting is being held at the Jorhat Convention Centre and is the first District Commissioners’ conference following the formation of the new state government in May 2026.
The Jorhat district administration is headed by District Commissioner Jay Shivani, IAS, according to the official Jorhat district website.
