New Delhi, June 18: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera has raised questions over the role of the United States during Operation Sindoor, alleging that the ceasefire announcement during the operation was made by the US rather than India. He urged the Central Government to clarify the circumstances surrounding the announcement.
Speaking to reporters, Khera said that India should not overlook the fact that the ceasefire announcement during Operation Sindoor came from the United States. He questioned whether the country could forget such an episode and sought an explanation from the government regarding the diplomatic developments that took place during the operation.
The Congress leader also referred to recent interactions between US President Donald Trump and Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, stating that India should carefully assess its expectations from international partners. According to Khera, nations maintain relationships based on their own strategic interests, and India must remain mindful of this reality.
His remarks have added a political dimension to the ongoing debate over India’s foreign policy and security-related decisions, with the opposition seeking greater transparency from the government on matters concerning national security and international diplomacy.
