Guwahati: In a bid to ease the growing passenger rush during the peak travel season, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the extension of the Santragachi–Naharlagun–Santragachi Special Train service with five additional trips in both directions.
As per an official statement, Train No. 08047 will depart from Santragachi every Friday between July 3 and July 31 at 6:00 pm, reaching Naharlagun at 8:50 pm the following day. The return service, Train No. 08048, will leave Naharlagun every Saturday from July 4 to August 1 at 11:55 pm and arrive at Santragachi at 4:15 am on Monday.
Railway officials said the additional services have been introduced to improve travel convenience and cater to the increased number of passengers travelling between West Bengal, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The extension is also expected to provide relief to wait-listed passengers on existing train services.
Passengers have been advised to verify the latest train timings and stoppage details through official railway channels before planning their journey. According to NFR, the move is part of its continued efforts to enhance passenger convenience during periods of high travel demand.
