Boston, June 26: Ghana produced a disciplined defensive performance to hold England to a 0-0 draw in a high-profile Group L match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, earning a valuable point in the race for the knockout stage. Despite dominating possession and creating several scoring opportunities, England failed to break through Ghana’s resilient defence.
England controlled much of the match and registered 19 attempts on goal, but Ghana’s organised backline and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare frustrated the Three Lions throughout the contest. England came closest to scoring in the 86th minute when substitute Nico O’Reilly’s header struck the crossbar before captain Harry Kane missed the rebound from close range. Ghana also threatened on the counterattack through Antoine Semenyo and Prince Kwabena Adu but was unable to find the breakthrough.
