Five Held as Guwahati Police Bust Teer Gambling Den in Hatigaon

Guwahati: Guwahati Police have busted an alleged teer gambling den in the Sijubari area under Hatigaon Police Station and apprehended five persons during a crackdown on illegal gambling activities.

According to Guwahati Police, a team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) carried out the operation in Sijubari, leading to the arrest of the suspected gamblers. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ainul Haque (32) of Golakganj, Abdul Sabur (45) of Lakhipur, Hakim Ali (42) of Dhubri, Nazar Ali (33) of Dhubri and Sahid Khan (43) of Sukshar.

During the raid, police seized 15 teer tickets, one chalkboard, three mobile phones and ₹5,200 in cash, which are believed to have been used in the alleged gambling operation.

Guwahati Police said legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused in accordance with the law. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether others were involved in the illegal gambling activity.

The action forms part of the city police’s ongoing drive against illegal gambling and other unlawful activities across Guwahati.
