Guwahati, July 7: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has assured that the concerns raised by cooks and helpers engaged under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme will be reviewed, following a meeting with their representatives at Janata Bhawan.
The delegation was led by adviser Trina Nath and chairperson Sabita Baruah, who highlighted several issues concerning cooks and helpers working in primary and upper primary schools across the state.
According to Pegu, the delegation submitted various demands related to the welfare and functioning of workers engaged under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. He said the state government would examine the matters in detail before taking appropriate decisions.
During the meeting, the Education Minister also urged the organisation to continue supporting the effective implementation of the scheme by ensuring that nutritious meals are prepared and served to students on time and that school kitchens operate smoothly.
The interaction reflects the state government’s ongoing engagement with stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Officials said the issues raised by the delegation will be taken up for review as part of the government’s efforts to improve the functioning of the programme.
