Guwahati: The Assam Public Service Commission on Sunday conducted the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2025 at 74 examination centres spread across 35 districts of Assam, marking a key stage in the recruitment process for various State government services.
The examination is being held to fill 78 vacancies across 11 services. According to the Commission, 41,695 candidates registered for the examination, including 23,218 men, 18,473 women, and four transgender candidates. The list of applicants also included 278 Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
The vacancies include 45 posts in the Assam Civil Service, six in the Assam Police Service, three District Transport Officer posts, one Superintendent of Excise post, two Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies posts, two Assam Urban Administrative Service posts, five Inspector of Labour posts, eight Assistant Employment Officer posts, four Sub-Registrar posts, one Research Assistant post, and one Inspector of Excise post.
In an official statement, the Commission said the examination was conducted smoothly with the cooperation of the district administrations, police authorities, the Health Department, Postal Department, Municipal Corporations, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited, and the heads and staff of educational institutions that hosted the examination centres.
A notable feature of this year’s examination was the introduction of Assamese-language question papers alongside English for the first time, providing candidates with an additional language option. The Commission also continued the practice of issuing OMR answer sheets with carbon copies, enabling candidates to retain a duplicate copy of their responses.
Shortly after the examination concluded, the Commission uploaded the provisional answer key on its official website, allowing candidates to verify their responses and submit objections, if any, within the stipulated period.
The Combined Competitive Examination is one of the State’s premier recruitment examinations, serving as the gateway to several key administrative and allied services under the Government of Assam.
