Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa | August 3, 2026: At least 13 people were killed and 22 others injured after a powerful explosion occurred during a peace rally in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday.
The blast took place in a town in Swat district while a peace rally organized by the local tribal council, Swat Aman Jirga, was underway. Participants had gathered to call for peace in the region, carrying placards and raising slogans amid growing security concerns.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police and other law enforcement agencies immediately sealed off the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
Visuals said to be from the blast site have surfaced on social media, showing the aftermath of the explosion. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the cause of the blast or identified those responsible.
