Kamalpur, Assam: Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika on Saturday visited the Jajikona Seed Farm of the Assam Seed Corporation Limited in Kamalpur, where he reviewed ongoing seed production activities and interacted with farmers on issues related to agricultural development and productivity.
During the visit, the minister inspected operations at the seed farm and held discussions with farmers on the importance of quality seeds, modern cultivation techniques, and measures to strengthen Assam’s agriculture sector. He also sought feedback on ways to improve productivity and promote sustainable farming practices across the state.
Addressing members of the farming community, Hazarika acknowledged the crucial role played by farmers in strengthening Assam’s agricultural economy. He appreciated their dedication and said direct interaction with cultivators helps the government better understand the challenges faced at the grassroots level.
Sharing photographs from the visit on X, the minister expressed his happiness at returning to the paddy fields, stating that spending time with those who nurture the land brings him immense satisfaction. He also wished farmers a successful cultivation season and hoped their hard work would be rewarded with a rich harvest in the months ahead.
In a separate post, Hazarika reminisced about his childhood, recalling the time he spent in muddy paddy fields. He said every visit to a paddy field brings back those memories, reflecting his personal connection with farming and rural life.
The visit formed part of the state government’s continued engagement with the farming community and its emphasis on improving seed quality, encouraging scientific farming practices, and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity. Officials also reviewed the functioning of the seed farm as part of the inspection.
