Shillong/New Delhi: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Sunday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and sought the Centre’s consideration on issues relating to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, accompanied by a delegation of church and community leaders from the State.
According to Sangma, the delegation included representatives of the Presbyterian Church of India, the Catholic Church, and the Garo Baptist Convention.
During the meeting, the delegation placed before the Union Home Minister its concerns regarding the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act and requested the Union Government to consider measures that would ensure the smooth functioning of these institutions while safeguarding the interests of the people of Meghalaya.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Sangma thanked Amit Shah for giving the delegation a patient hearing. He also reiterated that the Meghalaya Government remains committed to protecting the interests of the people and institutions of the State.
