Silchar, June 26: Police detained 26 people during a raid on two spa centres operating inside Imperial Mall on Club Road in Assam’s Silchar city as part of an operation to verify licences and regulatory compliance.
According to police sources, the raid was conducted on Thursday, during which officers inspected the establishments’ licences and other relevant documents. Preliminary inquiries reportedly revealed several irregularities related to licensing and documentation. All 26 individuals detained during the operation are being questioned, while the investigation remains underway.
Police are also examining the role of the spa operators as well as the mall management to determine whether the businesses were functioning in accordance with the required permissions and applicable regulations. Authorities have not yet announced any arrests or filed charges in connection with the case.
The operation has drawn considerable public attention in Silchar, with residents closely following the outcome of the investigation. Police have stated that further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
