West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari Performs Gau Puja at ISKCON Mayapur on Eid-ul-Adha

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the ISKCON headquarters in Mayapur, located in Nadia district, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha and performed Gau Puja, highlighting the message of cow protection and Indian cultural values.

During his visit to the Mayapur ISKCON temple, the Chief Minister participated in special religious rituals along with temple priests and monks. He also visited the cowshed inside the temple complex and took part in Gau Seva by feeding cows and offering prayers.

A large number of devotees and supporters gathered at the temple premises during the visit. Visuals from the ceremony were widely shared on social media, with supporters describing the event as a symbolic gesture promoting Indian traditions, animal welfare and cultural heritage.

The visit coincided with Eid-ul-Adha celebrations across the country. Meanwhile, discussions over cattle protection laws and action against illegal cattle trade continued in several parts of West Bengal during the festival period.

Despite the sensitivity surrounding the issue, no major incidents of communal tension or violence were reported from the state during Eid celebrations. The state administration reiterated that law and order would be maintained while respecting the rights of all communities.

Several Muslim religious leaders also appealed for peace and communal harmony during the festival and urged people to maintain social unity.

Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on May 9, 2026, following the BJP’s victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
