10-km Cycle Rally from Hailakandi to Son Beel Promotes Drug-Free Society

Hailakandi, Assam: A nearly 10-kilometre cycle rally was organised from Hailakandi to Son Beel on Saturday to promote a drug-free society and spread awareness against drug abuse. The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youths and residents, who united to convey a strong message against the use of narcotics.

Hailakandi MLA Dr. Milon Das joined the rally and said such awareness programmes are essential to eliminate the menace of drugs and guide young people towards a healthier and more responsible future. He praised senior journalist Nilotpal Dev and his cycling team for organising the initiative and encouraging public participation in the anti-drug campaign.

After reaching Son Beel, Dr. Das offered prayers at the Sri Sri Kali Mata Temple in Anandapur, praying for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people. He and the rally participants were later felicitated by local residents and social workers with traditional gamosas and ceremonial scarves.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Das said awareness campaigns against drugs and narcotic substances would continue across the Barak Valley. He appealed to the youth to stay away from addiction and play an active role in the development of society and the nation.

Local residents welcomed the initiative and described it as an inspiring step towards building a drug-free Barak Valley. They also appreciated the efforts of the organisers and participants for spreading awareness through the cycle rally and encouraging community involvement in the fight against drug abuse.
