Guwahati, June 3: Assam MLA and Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the passing of his mother, who died at the age of 94.
Speaking emotionally, Gogoi said that his mother was the person who shaped his life and played the most significant role in his upbringing.
“My life, if anyone has built it, it is my mother. Today, my mother has passed away at the age of 94,” Gogoi said while addressing the media.
Overcome with emotion, he added, “My mother is gone today,” as he informed that he was taking her mortal remains to their native home for the final rites.
The demise of his mother marks a personal loss for the veteran peasant leader and legislator, who has often spoken about the values and strength he inherited from her.
Family members, supporters, and well-wishers have expressed condolences following the news of her passing.
