GUWAHATI: The bail proceedings involving two accused in the Zubeen Garg death case will come before the Gauhati High Court today, with Justice Mitali Thakuria scheduled to hear the petitions filed by Sandipan Garg and Amritprabha Mahanta.
Both accused have previously moved the High Court seeking bail, and their applications have already come up for consideration during earlier hearings. The court is now expected to examine the submissions from the respective sides as the legal proceedings in the case continue.
At the previous hearing, the High Court had directed that the records of the case be produced from the fast-track court currently conducting the trial. The records are expected to assist the court in considering the bail applications.
The outcome of the hearing could determine whether the two accused receive bail while the trial remains underway. The prosecution and defence are expected to present their respective arguments before the court.
The case concerns the death of singer and musician Zubeen Garg and has drawn widespread attention across Assam. The investigation, court proceedings and subsequent developments have continued to remain under close public scrutiny.
