Two Arrested with 13.6 Grams of Heroin in Khanapara, Guwahati

Guwahati: An East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team has arrested two alleged drug peddlers in Khanapara and seized 13.6 grams of heroin, according to Guwahati Police.

The operation was carried out by personnel from Dispur Police Station, who apprehended the two individuals during an anti-drug operation in the Khanapara area.

The arrested persons have been identified as Akash Konwar, 18, a resident of Khetri, and Bikash Ali, 25, of Sonapur, Guwahati Police said in an official update.

Police said 13.6 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of the two accused during the operation. Following the seizure, legal proceedings have been initiated against them.

The latest action is part of the ongoing drug-control operations being conducted by Guwahati Police under its campaign against illegal narcotics. Police teams in different parts of the city have continued to target suspected drug-peddling activities and seize contraband.

The police update did not provide further details about the alleged source of the heroin, its intended destination or whether other individuals are suspected to be involved in the case.

Further investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession of the contraband and determine whether the two arrested persons have any links to a wider drug-supply network.
