Guwahati: Residents in several parts of Assam have been advised to remain cautious as thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense spells of rain are forecast in multiple districts over the next few hours.
According to the weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Guwahati, at around 11 am, such conditions are likely at a few locations in Charaideo, Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, Nalbari and Sivasagar during the following one-and-a-half to two hours.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) issued the alert in the public interest and urged people to take necessary precautions while the weather conditions remain unsettled.
In Guwahati, the day’s forecast indicates generally cloudy skies with the possibility of one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. Residents have been advised to follow official weather updates and exercise caution during periods of lightning and thunderstorms.
People are also advised to avoid unnecessary exposure outdoors during thunderstorms and remain attentive to further weather warnings issued by the authorities.
