Guwahati, September 7, 2026: The Swachh Guwahati Competition has moved closer to its final results with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) conducting a detailed review of assessments carried out across participating areas of the city.
A final evaluation meeting was held at the GMC office in Betkuchi, where the findings from the field assessment process were placed before the Core Committee for scrutiny. The exercise is expected to play a key role in determining the final ranking of participating areas.
The assessment process has focused on various aspects of urban cleanliness and civic responsibility, with evaluators examining performance against specified parameters. Assessment reports, score sheets and photographic documentation were presented during the meeting to support the evaluation process.
The competition has sought to bring neighbourhoods and community groups into the city’s cleanliness efforts rather than relying solely on routine municipal services. Participation from residents and local organisations has been an important component of the initiative, encouraging communities to take greater ownership of their surroundings.
