Barpeta, Assam: After remaining closed during the monsoon months, Manas National Park is set to welcome visitors again from October 2, marking the beginning of the 2026-27 tourism season at the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The reopening was confirmed by Nitish Boro, Ranger of the Bansbari Range. According to the park authorities, a special programme will be held at the park’s second main entrance on October 2 to formally mark the start of tourism activities.
The annual reopening follows the end of the monsoon period, when several tourism activities inside the park are suspended. With conditions becoming suitable for visitors, tourists from across India and abroad will once again be able to explore the park and its wildlife attractions.
Manas National Park will remain accessible to tourists until further orders, subject to the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the Assam Wildlife (Protection) Rules, 1997.
Visitors, however, will need to keep in mind that the park’s different ranges will continue to follow their respective weekly closure days. The Bhuyanpara Range will remain closed every Thursday, while the Bansbari Range will observe its weekly closure on Tuesdays.
Similarly, the Panbari Range will remain closed to visitors on Fridays, and the Kuklung Range will observe its weekly closure on Wednesdays.
The reopening of Manas is expected to bring the park back into focus among wildlife enthusiasts and tourists looking to experience its diverse natural surroundings and wildlife during the new tourism season.
