GUWAHATI: Extending support to families and communities affected by the floods in Assam, employees of Guwahati Refinery have donated their one-day salary, amounting to ₹13.70 lakh, to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The contribution was formally handed over to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Chief Minister’s Office by Sunil Kanti, Executive Director and Refinery Head of Guwahati Refinery. Om Prasad Chetry, General Manager (I/c), Human Resources, was also present during the handover.
The donation is aimed at supporting ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures for people impacted by the flood situation across the state.

The employees had also participated in relief efforts on the ground. On July 31, a 25-member volunteer team from the refinery travelled to flood-affected areas of Sivasagar district, where it distributed essential supplies and other critical relief materials in severely affected and difficult-to-reach villages.
The initiative received support from several employee organisations and groups associated with the refinery. These included the IndianOil Officers Association, Guwahati Refinery Unit, Refinery Workers Union, WIPS, Guwahati Refinery Employees Cooperative Society, the Employees’ Clubs of Sectors I, II and III townships, GEIEF & U, and Kalyan Kendra.
The collective contribution and field-level relief activities reflect the employees’ efforts to extend assistance to communities facing hardship due to the floods, according to a press release.
