
GUWAHATI: Tension reportedly surfaced in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area on Wednesday night when an eviction operation targeting allegedly unauthorised commercial establishments was disrupted following an alleged assault on a Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) employee.
The GMC staff member was part of the team deployed to the locality as officials carried out an eviction drive against commercial structures reportedly operating without the necessary permissions. The incident took place while the operation was in progress.
According to preliminary information, a group of people allegedly confronted members of the eviction team before pursuing and assaulting one of the GMC employees. The employee was reportedly wearing his official uniform when the confrontation occurred.
