
Guwahati: A new executive team has taken charge of the Gauhati University Officers’ Association (GUOA) following its 62nd Annual General Meeting, with Dr. Prasanta Kumar Deka elected as the association’s new president.
The annual meeting was held at Gauhati University on August 31 and began with the hoisting of the GUOA flag by outgoing President Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati. General Secretary Dr. Rituparna Bora welcomed the participating members and outlined the objectives of the meeting.
Addressing the open session, Gauhati University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta acknowledged the contribution of the university’s officers to its day-to-day functioning and overall development. He also released the association’s annual magazine, Satirtha, during the programme.
The meeting was attended by retired Assistant Librarian Alok Kumar Pathak and retired Secretary Dr. Hemanta Kumar Nath, along with members of the association.
A key outcome of the AGM was the election of Dr. Prasanta Kumar Deka, Librarian of the K.K. Handiqui Library, as the new President of GUOA. A new Executive Committee was also constituted under his leadership.
The meeting provided members an opportunity to exchange views on matters concerning the association and the university’s administrative functioning. It concluded with discussions among the members followed by a vote of thanks.
The AGM marks the beginning of a new term for the GUOA leadership, with the newly constituted Executive Committee set to take forward the association’s activities under Dr. Prasanta Kumar Deka.
