The Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a nationwide month-long campaign to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life, with a series of service activities and public outreach programmes planned across the country.
Named ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, the campaign began on September 17 and is scheduled to continue until October 17. The launch coincides with Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, while October 7 will mark 25 years since he first assumed a constitutional office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin had announced the campaign earlier this month at a press conference at the party headquarters in New Delhi. According to the BJP, the initiative is intended to highlight Modi’s journey in public life and connect the anniversary with activities focused on social service and public participation.
The campaign includes a range of programmes such as blood donation drives, cleanliness initiatives, welfare-related outreach, youth-oriented activities and other community programmes. The BJP has also planned events aimed at engaging different sections of society during the month-long campaign.
September 17 is being observed by the BJP as ‘Seva Diwas’, with blood donation camps among the activities planned for the opening day. Other programmes are scheduled to continue through the campaign period, including activities involving young people and community participation.
The BJP has also announced programmes linked to October 7, the date marking 25 years since Modi took charge as Gujarat Chief Minister. These include the proposed ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’, while other public-participation activities are expected to be organised during the campaign.
The month-long programme combines service-oriented activities with efforts to present the BJP’s account of Modi’s 25-year public career and the work of governments led by him. The party has described the campaign as an opportunity for its workers and members of the public to participate in community-focused programmes.
With activities scheduled across different parts of the country, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will continue until October 17, bringing together a series of public outreach and service programmes around the milestone in Modi’s political career.
