Bank of Baroda has added another national-level recognition to its record in official language implementation, securing the Second Prize in the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar Scheme for 2025-26 in the headquarters category for nationalised banks and financial institutions with more than 800 employees.
The award was presented during the observance of Hindi Diwas 2026 and the Sixth All India Official Language Conference held at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre in Navi Mumbai on September 14. Dr Debadatta Chand, Managing Director and CEO of Bank of Baroda, accepted the honour from Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
The ceremony was attended by Anshuli Arya, Secretary (Official Language), Government of India, along with senior officials and other dignitaries.
Speaking about the recognition, Chand said the award reflected the bank’s efforts to make banking services accessible to customers in the languages they are most comfortable using. He highlighted the institution’s focus on multilingual banking across both its digital and physical service channels.
According to the bank, multilingual customer engagement is being expanded through platforms and services including bob World, WhatsApp Banking, chatbots and call centres. The bank has also developed bob-SAMVAD, an artificial intelligence-powered tool designed to facilitate interaction with customers in multiple Indian languages.
The latest honour extends Bank of Baroda’s record in the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar. The bank has received the award for five consecutive years in the Nationalised Banks category, during which it has secured three First Prizes and two Second Prizes.
Another recognition came for the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Office), Ayodhya, which operates under Bank of Baroda’s convenorship. The committee received the Second Prize in the ‘A’ linguistic region category.
The bank also received recognition through 18 Town Official Language Implementation Committees functioning under its convenorship. These committees were presented with the NARAKAS Protsahan Samman on September 15.
With the latest recognitions across different categories, Bank of Baroda received a total of 20 awards, according to a press release issued by the bank.
Several senior officials of Bank of Baroda were present during the events, including Madhur Kumar, Chief General Manager and Zonal Head, Mumbai Zone; Dr Punit Kumar Mishra, Head of Official Language and Parliamentary Committees; and Manish Kumar Sinha, Regional Head, Navi Mumbai Region, along with other senior executives.
