Assam, September 6, 2026: Aspiring entrepreneurs and startups in Assam have received a new opportunity to seek financial support for developing innovative ideas and transforming them into market-ready solutions. The Assam Innovation & Startup Foundation has invited applications under the Assam Startup initiative for funding support at different stages of startup development.
The announcement was shared by Ranoj Pegu, Education Minister of Assam, who described the initiative as a significant opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs and startups in the state. The funding programme is aimed at supporting innovative ventures as they progress from the idea stage to prototype or minimum viable product (MVP) development.
Under the funding support programme, eligible startups at the Idea Stage can receive funding of up to ₹10 lakh. Startups at the Prototype/MVP Stage can seek support of up to ₹20 lakh, while eligible Prototype/MVP Stage deep-tech startups can receive funding support of up to ₹40 lakh.

According to the application notice, the application process started on September 4, 2026, and the last date to apply is October 3, 2026. Entrepreneurs and startups interested in the programme have been advised to submit complete applications along with the required information and supporting documents.
The selection process will involve multiple stages of evaluation. Applicants are required to select the appropriate category based on their current startup stage. The notice also states that applicants seeking support under the Prototype/MVP category must be prepared to demonstrate their working product or prototype during the evaluation presentation.
The programme also provides for equity-linked incubation support for Prototype/MVP-stage applicants, where applicable. Such support will be subject to the relevant terms, evaluation procedures and due-diligence requirements.
The initiative is being implemented under the Department of Innovation, Incubation & Startups, Government of Assam, with the Assam Innovation & Startup Foundation facilitating the funding support programme. The initiative is expected to provide promising entrepreneurs with financial assistance to further develop innovative products, technologies and business solutions.
