
A joint team of the Assam Rifles, Assam Police and Territorial Army apprehended a suspected NSCN (KYA) cadre during an intelligence-based operation in Assam’s Jagun area, the Assam Rifles said.
The operation was carried out on August 8, 2026, in the general area of Jagun under Lekhapani, based on specific intelligence inputs, according to the security force.
The Assam Rifles said one active cadre of the NSCN (KYA) was apprehended during the operation. Security personnel also recovered a .32-calibre pistol, one magazine and a camping tent from the area.
Following the operation, the apprehended individual along with the recovered items was handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The latest operation highlights the continued coordination between the Assam Rifles, Assam Police and the Territorial Army in conducting intelligence-led security operations in the region.
