Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu on Monday saw off Vice-President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan at the airport as he departed for Manipur during his four-day tour of the Northeast.
In a post on social media, Pegu expressed his gratitude to the Vice-President for attending three important programmes in Assam during his visit. These included the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Geetanagar College, the convocation ceremony of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) and the foundation stone-laying ceremony for infrastructure projects worth ₹110 crore at Gauhati University.
Vice-President Radhakrishnan’s visit to Assam was part of his four-day Northeast tour covering Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh from September 6 to 9, 2026. The official schedule confirms his programmes in Guwahati on September 6 and 7 before his onward journey to Meghalaya and subsequently Manipur.
At Geetanagar College, the Vice-President attended its Golden Jubilee celebrations and inaugurated the institution’s new academic building. He subsequently attended the SSUHS convocation in Guwahati, where he urged graduating healthcare professionals to uphold compassion, ethics and scientific excellence.
At Gauhati University, Shri Radhakrishnan laid the foundation stone for ₹110 crore worth of infrastructure development projects on September 7.
