Lakhimpur: An eviction drive at Kehutoli Dharmapur near the Ranganadi river reportedly saw 32 business establishments demolished on November 5. The district administration carried out the operation against alleged encroachments on government land under Bihpuria Revenue Circle.
According to reports, excavators were deployed early in the morning to dismantle the commercial structures. The establishments had allegedly been operating on government land and along the riverbank for a considerable period.
The occupants had reportedly received repeated warnings and eviction notices. Authorities proceeded with demolition after the premises were not vacated.
District administration and revenue circle officials jointly conducted the operation amid heavy security. Police and paramilitary personnel were deployed to maintain law and order during the clearance.
