Assam Rifles Provides Medical Assistance in Two Emergencies in Manipur’s Ukhrul

Ukhrul, September 18, 2026: Personnel of the Assam Rifles provided medical assistance in two separate emergencies in Ukhrul district of Manipur on September 16 and 17, according to the force.

In the first incident on September 16, troops stationed at the Shakpao Company Operating Base (COB) responded after a villager sustained a deep cut from a CGI sheet. An Assam Rifles Nursing Assistant provided immediate medical attention, controlled the bleeding, sutured the wound and administered the required medication.

The following day, troops were involved in assisting a pregnant woman from Sorathen village who went into labour while she was being transported to Ukhrul District Hospital.

According to the Assam Rifles, the woman delivered a baby girl near RP Gate at Shangshak Battalion. The mother and newborn were subsequently moved to the Unit Hospital, Shangshak, where they received postpartum care before being referred to a higher medical centre for further treatment.

The Assam Rifles said the two incidents highlighted the importance of timely medical assistance during emergencies, particularly in areas where access to healthcare facilities can be challenging.

The force described the response as part of its continued humanitarian assistance to communities in the Northeast, with its personnel providing immediate support when medical emergencies arise.
