
Guwahati, September 18, 2026: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) organised a felicitation programme at its head office in Betkuchi to recognise officials and field personnel involved in the first phase of the Houselisting and Housing Census exercise for Census 2027.
The programme was held following the completion of the first phase of census-related operations within the GMC area. Personnel associated with the exercise were acknowledged for their contribution towards carrying out the field-level work.
The event was held in the presence of Shri Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, ACS, Commissioner of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation and Principal Census Officer. The best-performing Enumerators and Supervisors from all 13 Charges under the GMC were felicitated for their work during the exercise.
The respective Charge Officers were also recognised for their role in coordinating and supervising the census operations in their respective areas. Officials from the Directorate of Census were felicitated as well for providing support during the conduct of the exercise.
Shri Pranab Dutta Goswami, ACS, was also honoured during the programme for his contribution and coordination in connection with the census activities.
The GMC said the programme highlighted the collective efforts of the personnel involved in the exercise and acknowledged the teamwork that helped complete the first phase of the operations.
The Houselisting and Housing Census forms the first phase of Census 2027. According to the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India, the first-phase houselisting operations are being conducted during 2026, with states following their respective notified schedules.
