Anti-Drug Rally Held in Nalbari to Raise Awareness Against Drug Abuse

Nalbari: Raising concern over the increasing threat of drug abuse, an anti-drug awareness rally was held in Nalbari on Monday following a call from the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU).

The programme started from Nalbari Shaheed Bhawan, with AASU activists and other participants marching through various parts of the town before concluding the rally at the same venue. Participants raised slogans against drug abuse and called for collective efforts to prevent the spread of narcotics.

Speaking at the programme, AASU vice-president Bhawajit Bezbaruah said drug abuse has emerged as a serious social concern, particularly because of its impact on young people. He urged the government and administration to strengthen measures against the problem while giving greater emphasis to awareness and prevention among the younger generation.

AASU Nalbari district president Nirujuddin Ahmed also called for firm action against those involved in the illegal drug trade. He urged the authorities to identify the networks responsible for the supply and distribution of narcotics and take steps to disrupt their activities.

The rally was organised as part of efforts to encourage greater public participation in preventing drug abuse and promoting awareness about its impact on society.
