GUWAHATI: Memories of late singer and musician Zubeen Garg filled his Kahilipara residence as his family observed his 11th monthly death tithi with traditional rituals and prayers on Wednesday.

Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, performed the customary rituals in the presence of family members, remembering the singer and his enduring contribution to Assamese music and culture.

The observance also carried a deeply personal element for Garima, who recalled some of Zubeen’s preferred food while preparing the meal for the occasion. The traditional spread included rice, fish curry, two types of fried vegetables and dal.

She also prepared roti, a food that Zubeen was particularly fond of, adding an intimate touch to the family’s remembrance.

For Garima and other family members, the occasion brought back memories of their time with the singer. The rituals were conducted as a solemn tribute to his life, with prayers and traditional customs forming part of the observance.

Zubeen Garg’s music and artistic legacy continue to resonate strongly with people across Assam, and his memory remains deeply rooted among his admirers and the Assamese community.
