NEW DELHI: Domestic LPG consumers across India will no longer have to follow different refill booking timelines based on where they live, with the government bringing the waiting period down to 25 days for both urban and rural households.
Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi announced the change, confirming that consumers can place an order for their next domestic LPG cylinder once 25 days have passed since their previous booking.
The move ends the temporary difference in booking intervals introduced earlier this year. Under the previous arrangement, urban consumers were permitted to book a refill after 25 days, while those in rural areas had to wait 45 days.
The differentiated system was brought in amid supply-related concerns following the conflict in the Middle East. The government subsequently reviewed the situation as domestic LPG supplies became more stable and pending refill orders declined.
With the latest revision, the 25-day interval has been made applicable nationwide without distinction between urban and rural consumers.
The change is expected to make the refill process more uniform and provide greater convenience to households, particularly those that previously faced the longer waiting period.
