Guwahati, Assam: The Eco Club of Gauhati University, Moi Prakriti, organised a street play to create awareness about Assam’s rich biodiversity, natural resources and the importance of protecting wildlife and the environment, with particular emphasis on Kaziranga National Park.
The awareness programme was organised with the objective of encouraging greater public understanding of the need to conserve Assam’s natural heritage and protect its diverse wildlife. Through the street play, students presented the message of environmental conservation in an engaging and accessible manner.
The performance highlighted the importance of protecting nature and wildlife and drew attention to the responsibility of the younger generation in preserving Assam’s valuable ecological resources. The students used the street theatre format to communicate the environmental message effectively and encourage greater public participation in conservation efforts.
Kaziranga National Park, one of Assam’s most prominent natural heritage sites, was given particular emphasis during the programme. The initiative sought to remind people of the importance of protecting wildlife habitats and maintaining the ecological balance on which both biodiversity and communities depend.
The students also highlighted the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding Assam’s natural resources for future generations. The message of the performance encouraged young people to develop a stronger sense of responsibility towards the state’s forests, wildlife, biodiversity and wider natural environment.
Gauhati University’s Eco Club Moi Prakriti has used the programme as an awareness-building initiative, bringing environmental conservation messages beyond the classroom and directly to the public through street theatre.
The university said the message conveyed through the performance was intended to inspire the younger generation to become more responsible towards Assam’s rich natural heritage and work towards protecting these invaluable resources for generations to come.
