Guwahati: Census preparations in some of Guwahati’s challenging hill areas have come under review as officials assessed the progress of ongoing field-level activities and the difficulties faced by enumerators working in hard-to-reach locations.
A field visit was conducted in the hilly areas under Charge 3 of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) as part of the ongoing Census Operations. The visit was held in the presence of Biswajit Pegu, IAS, Director of Census Operations, Assam, according to a post shared by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation on X.
The visit focused on assessing the progress of census-related fieldwork and understanding the practical challenges encountered by enumerators while carrying out their duties in hilly and difficult-to-access parts of the city.
Officials also reviewed issues associated with conducting field activities in such terrain, where accessibility can pose additional challenges for teams responsible for collecting and verifying census information.
The field-level assessment forms part of the preparations for Census 2027, with authorities working to ensure that census operations are carried out effectively across different geographical areas.
The involvement of senior census officials during the field visit also provided an opportunity to assess ground-level requirements and address difficulties that may affect the smooth implementation of the census exercise.
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation said the field visit was part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and ensure effective civic administration during the census process.
