NFR Cancels Two Trains, Reschedules Seven Amid Track Restoration Near New Harangajao

Guwahati, August 18: Passengers travelling through the Lumding–Badarpur Hill Section should take note of revised train schedules as the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced cancellations and changes to several services amid ongoing restoration work near New Harangajao station in Assam.

According to the latest NFR advisory, railway tracks near New Harangajao have experienced settlement, prompting restoration work and operational adjustments to ensure safe train movement in the affected section. Train operations are being managed with necessary safety measures while the restoration work continues.

Two trains cancelled

The following services have been cancelled for their respective journey commencement dates:

  • 15615 Guwahati–Silchar Express — Journey commencing on August 18, 2026
  • 15616 Silchar–Guwahati Express — Journey commencing on August 19, 2026

Seven trains rescheduled

NFR has also revised the departure timings of seven trains scheduled to commence their journeys on August 18:

  • 15650 Narangi–Agartala Express — will depart Narangi at 10:30 pm
  • 15649 Agartala–Narangi Express — will depart Agartala at 11:30 pm
  • 15609 Guwahati–Sairang Express — will depart Guwahati at 11:30 pm
  • 15610 Sairang–Guwahati Express — will depart Sairang at 9:30 pm
  • 15611 Rangiya–Silchar Express — will depart Rangiya at 11:30 pm
  • 15612 Silchar–Rangiya Express — will depart Silchar at 5:00 am on August 19
  • 15628 Silchar–Coimbatore Express — will depart Silchar at 4:10 am on August 19

The train numbers and route names in the advisory correspond with the respective services operated by the Northeast Frontier Railway. The Rangiya–Silchar service, for example, operates as train numbers 15611/15612, while 15609/15610 are the Guwahati–Sairang services.

One train to be regulated en route

NFR has further stated that Train No. 15625 Deoghar–Agartala Express, commencing its journey on August 17, 2026, will be suitably regulated en route in view of the prevailing operational conditions.

Train No. 15625 is the Deoghar–Agartala service operated by the Northeast Frontier Railway.

The latest changes are linked to restoration activity near New Harangajao, where the railway is working to address track settlement. The station is located on the Lumding–Badarpur section of the NFR network. Official NFR records identify New Harangajao as a station in the Lumding Division.

Passengers with journeys involving the affected trains are advised to check the latest status with the railway before proceeding to their stations, as operational arrangements may change depending on the progress of restoration work.
