Trump Raises Prospect of Fresh Iran Strikes While Keeping Deal Option Open

Florida: A diplomatic agreement with Iran remains possible despite renewed warnings of American military action, US President Donald Trump said on Saturday, leaving Washington’s next move uncertain.

Speaking to reporters after casting an early ballot in Florida on October 24, Trump suggested that an attack could take place as soon as Sunday, October 25. However, he did not announce a final decision or disclose operational details.

“Maybe tomorrow,” Trump said when pressed about a possible strike. He also indicated that negotiations could produce an agreement, while questioning whether Tehran would honour its commitments.

Trump said preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon remained his objective. His remarks presented military action and a negotiated settlement as possible outcomes without confirming which course Washington would pursue.

The comments followed a warning at a Florida rally on Friday, when Trump raised the possibility of “another little Epic Fury,” referring to the American military campaign against Iran. His latest statements came after he had previously said Washington would refrain from attacking before the November 3 congressional elections.

US Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack had also raised the possibility of military action over the weekend during a podcast appearance. His remarks, however, did not amount to an announcement that a strike had been authorised.

The confrontation began with joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. Tehran subsequently launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and Gulf countries hosting American bases, while the conflict drove up global energy prices. Nearly eight months later, a lasting settlement remains elusive.
