Agartala, July 20: Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, was found dead inside his office chamber at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Agartala on Monday. Police suspect the incident to be a case of suicide, though the exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed.
According to preliminary information, Dhankar was found hanging inside his office at the Police Headquarters. He was immediately rushed to Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Soon after the incident, senior police officials and forensic personnel reached the Police Headquarters and secured the area. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to the senior officer’s death.
Officials said the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination. As of now, the Tripura Police have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
