Three Bangladeshi Nationals Detained at Assam’s Lumding Railway Junction

Lumding: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel detained three Bangladeshi nationals at Lumding Railway Junction in Assam while they were travelling on the Guwahati–Sairang Express (15609), according to reports.

The detained individuals have been identified as Bilal Hussain, Amir Ali and Hasan Mia, reportedly belonging to Sunamganj district in Bangladesh. Their detention took place during the Durga Puja period, although further details about the operation have not been officially disclosed.

According to the information available, the three men allegedly entered India around three months ago by crossing the international border through West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. They reportedly told the authorities that they had paid Rs 15,000 to an intermediary who allegedly arranged their entry into the country.

After entering India, the trio is said to have travelled to Uttar Pradesh, where they worked as labourers before boarding the train on which they were subsequently detained at Lumding.

Details about the circumstances leading to their detention, the verification of their identities and the alleged intermediary’s role remain unclear. The RPF has not yet issued an official statement providing further information about the case.

Further details are awaited as information about the detention and the subsequent investigation emerges.
