India delivered one of its strongest performances at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Day 10, collecting an impressive 16 medals across multiple disciplines and strengthening its position in the overall medal standings. Congratulating the country’s athletes, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the medal winners for making the nation proud with their outstanding achievements.
In a post on X, Sarma described the occasion as “an unforgettable day” for Indian sports and applauded the athletes for flying the Tricolour high on the international stage. He extended his congratulations to the gold, silver and bronze medallists, saying their performances had given the country “countless reasons to celebrate.”
Boxing Leads India’s Medal Charge
Indian boxers dominated the day’s competition, accounting for the bulk of the medals with a series of commanding performances inside the ring.
Among those who secured gold medals were Arundhati Choudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Sakshi Chaudhary, Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar and Soman Rana, whose victories highlighted India’s strength in combat sports and para athletics.
The silver medal winners recognised by the Chief Minister included Neera Chopra, Jadumani Singh, Yamini Mourya, Shubham Juyal and Praveen Chithravel, while Unnati Sharma, Selva Prabhu and Tejaswin Shankar were among the athletes who earned bronze medals for India.
India Climbs Medal Table
Day 10 proved to be India’s most successful outing so far at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The boxing contingent alone contributed 10 medals, including seven golds and three silvers, underlining the country’s growing dominance in the sport.
India also excelled in athletics, with Soman Rana winning gold in the men’s F57 shot put, while Shubham Juyal secured silver in the same event. In the men’s triple jump, Praveen Chithravel claimed silver and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran added a bronze medal to India’s tally. Judoka Unnati Sharma also finished on the podium with a bronze medal.
Long-distance runner Gulveer Singh added another milestone to India’s campaign by claiming bronze in the men’s 5,000 metres final, earning his second medal of the Games.
India’s Medal Tally Reaches 39
With the latest successes, India’s overall medal count has risen to 39 medals, comprising 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze, placing the country fourth in the Commonwealth Games 2026 medal standings.
