India Adds Five Medals at Asian Games as Relay, Wushu, Athletics, Rowing and Shooting Shine

Nagoya, Japan, September 24, 2026: India enjoyed a productive day at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, winning five medals across athletics, wushu, rowing and shooting on Thursday.

The medal-winning performances included two silver medals and three bronze medals, giving India’s campaign a significant boost as competition continued across multiple disciplines.

The Indian mixed 4x400m relay quartet of M.R. Poovamma, Vithya Ramraj, Manu T.S. and Vishal T.K. secured the silver medal after clocking 3:14.46 in the final. Bahrain took the gold with a Games-record time of 3:12.87. India finished ahead of Vietnam by a narrow margin, with Vithya Ramraj producing a strong final stretch to secure second place.

India also collected a silver in women’s wushu, with Roshibina Devi finishing runner-up in the 60kg Sanda category. She lost 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final. The result gave Roshibina her third successive Asian Games medal, following bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Games.

Athletics produced another medal for the Indian contingent, with Seema Kumari winning bronze in the women’s 10,000m. Her performance marked India’s first medal in the women’s 10,000m event at the Asian Games in 16 years.

In rowing, Satnam Singh and Salman Khan claimed bronze in the men’s double sculls. The Indian pair remained in medal contention throughout the race before finishing third behind the gold- and silver-winning crews from China and Uzbekistan.

India’s fifth medal of the day came from shooting, where Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Anantjeet Singh Naruka secured bronze in the mixed team skeet event. Their result was particularly notable as it marked India’s first-ever medal in the mixed team skeet event at the Asian Games.

The five-medal haul took India’s overall tally to 17 medals — one gold, seven silver and nine bronze — at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after Thursday’s events.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the medal winners in a post on X, describing the day’s performances as a strong showing for Indian sport and extending his wishes to the athletes for their achievements.

The results added medals from several different sporting disciplines and marked an important day for India’s campaign at the Games, with competition continuing in athletics, shooting, rowing, wushu and other events in the days ahead.
