Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has urged citizens, builders, contractors and construction agencies to refrain from illegally dumping construction and demolition (C&D) waste on roads, public places, and in residential and commercial areas. The civic body has warned that violators will face a spot fine of ₹2,000.
In an advisory shared on its official X account, GMC highlighted the adverse effects of improper construction waste disposal on public spaces, urban cleanliness, public health and safety.
The corporation stated that illegally dumped construction and demolition debris obstructs public spaces and undermines efforts to maintain a clean and safe urban environment.
GMC has called upon all stakeholders involved in construction activities to dispose of C&D waste responsibly and avoid dumping debris in unauthorised locations.
The civic body has also encouraged citizens to report violations through its helpline at 8811007000, enabling the authorities to address instances of illegal dumping.
The advisory serves as a reminder that responsible waste management requires cooperation from residents, builders, contractors and construction agencies to keep Guwahati clean and ensure that public spaces remain accessible and safe.
