GMC Focuses on Revenue Growth

Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has stepped up efforts to strengthen its financial resources, directing all departments to ensure the collection of pending taxes within the next three months. The decision was taken during a revenue planning meeting held at the corporation’s Betkuchi office on October 16, 2026, in preparation for the financial year 2026–27.

The meeting was chaired by GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania and attended by Deputy Mayor Smita Roy, Commissioner Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, councillors and representatives from various divisions. Officials reviewed departmental proposals and discussed measures to streamline tax collection, improve revenue management and identify additional sources of income.

The corporation highlighted the importance of coordination among departments and timely implementation of revenue-related plans. The initiative aims to strengthen GMC’s financial position and support urban development and civic services across Guwahati.
