Guwahati: In a significant boost to flood relief operations in Assam, Air India Express has announced that it will transport humanitarian aid to the state without charging cargo fees. The initiative is aimed at helping relief agencies quickly deliver essential supplies to districts affected by the ongoing floods.
The airline said the cargo charge waiver is available for registered non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and recognised relief agencies engaged in flood response efforts. The measure is expected to improve the speed and efficiency of delivering much-needed assistance to communities impacted by the disaster.
Relief consignments eligible under the initiative include food items, dry rations, drinking water, medicines, hygiene and sanitation kits, clothing, blankets, tarpaulins, and other essential humanitarian supplies. All shipments must comply with applicable regulations as well as the airline’s cargo acceptance guidelines.
The waiver covers cargo transported to Guwahati from the metro cities of Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Air India Express currently operates six daily flights from Delhi, three from Bengaluru, and two from Kolkata to Guwahati, providing multiple opportunities each day to move relief materials into the state.

Air India Express said the decision reflects its commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts during the flood crisis and ensuring that essential relief materials reach affected communities in Assam as quickly as possible.
