IndiGo Launches Direct Guwahati-Bangkok Flights, Strengthening Northeast’s International Connectivity

Guwahati: Travellers from Assam and other northeastern states now have an additional international travel option following the launch of IndiGo’s direct flight service connecting Guwahati with Bangkok, Thailand. The new air link is expected to encourage tourism, facilitate business travel and strengthen economic and cultural ties between Northeast India and Southeast Asia.

The inaugural service began on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati, which is managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL).

IndiGo flight 6E 1085 departed Guwahati at 6:15 pm, with its scheduled arrival in Bangkok at 10:45 pm local time. The corresponding Bangkok-Guwahati service, flight 6E 1086, was scheduled to leave the Thai capital at 8:50 am and reach Guwahati at 10:25 am. Both inaugural services were scheduled for Tuesday.

Following the launch, regular twice-weekly operations will begin on October 31, with flights scheduled every Wednesday and Saturday in both directions.

The Guwahati-Bangkok route is expected to provide more convenient travel opportunities for passengers from Northeast India, particularly those visiting Thailand for tourism, business and other purposes. The direct connection could also encourage travellers from Thailand to explore Assam and neighbouring northeastern states.

Airport authorities said the addition of Bangkok expands LGBIA’s network to five international and 24 domestic destinations, reinforcing Guwahati’s growing importance as a regional aviation hub.

The development also comes amid continued improvements in the airport’s infrastructure. Its newly developed Terminal 2, featuring architectural elements inspired by the bamboo orchid and the cultural heritage of Northeast India, was included in the prestigious Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026.

The introduction of IndiGo’s international operations from Guwahati represents another step towards improving air connectivity and creating opportunities for tourism, trade and people-to-people exchanges between Northeast India and Southeast Asia.
