GUWAHATI: Traditional folk art was used as a medium to spread awareness about the upcoming Census 2027 during a special puppet dance performance organised at Gauhati University.
The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University, and the Dr. Anamika Ray Memorial Trust. The performance took place in front of the Birinchi Kumar Barua Auditorium on the university campus.
Through an engaging presentation rooted in folk culture, the organisers sought to familiarise people with the significance of Census 2027, the process involved and the importance of public participation in the nationwide exercise.
The initiative highlighted the role of traditional art forms in communicating important public messages and encouraging community engagement. By combining cultural expression with an awareness campaign, the programme aimed to make information about the census more accessible to the public.
The event was part of efforts to build public understanding and encourage active participation in Census 2027.
