Glasgow, Scotland | August 3, 2026: A popular Indian restaurant in Glasgow has apologised and announced that it will redesign its logo after Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain raised concerns over an inaccurate depiction of India’s map that excluded the country’s North Eastern region.
The issue came to light after members of the Indian boxing team visited Mister Singh’s India – The Home of Curry to celebrate their outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games 2026, where the contingent secured 10 medals, including seven gold and three silver.
During the visit, Lovlina noticed that the map of India printed on a restaurant napkin did not include the North East. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the Olympic medallist expressed her disappointment, saying the omission was hurtful to people from the region. She also pointed out that a similar map was displayed outside the restaurant and requested that it be corrected in the future.

The video quickly drew widespread attention online, with many social media users supporting Lovlina’s concerns and calling for the restaurant to update the design.
Responding to the criticism, the restaurant issued a public apology, acknowledging that the map used was incorrect. In its statement, the management said it deeply regretted the mistake and clarified that there was never any intention to offend anyone.
The restaurant further stated that it would immediately replace the existing logo with a correct representation of India’s map. It also expressed pride in hosting the Indian boxing team, describing it as an honour to celebrate the athletes’ remarkable achievements at the Commonwealth Games.
Shortly after the apology was issued, the restaurant’s Instagram account was no longer accessible, although no official reason has been provided for its removal.
